On August 11th Helena Hunting released her latest novel, Kiss My Cupcake. She has been sharing about this book (in her Facebook group) for a while now, and the snippets I've read definitely caught my attention. After all, I do love a good rom-com! Add in the enemies to lovers trope, and just hand it over. I will give the book (or movie) my full attention.
Kiss My Cupcake first introduces us to Blaire Calloway, who is preparing to open Buttercream and Booze. This new cafe is going to be the perfect place to visit if you enjoy unique cupcakes, and adult beverages that match the flavors of the day. Blaire is excited about this opportunity, but also stressing about it. After all, she's branching out on her own. Previously Blaire had owned a cupcake truck (Cupcakes to Go) with Paul, but the two have decided to go separate ways. So while owning a business isn't new, owning one on her own is.
As Blaire is preparing for her grand opening, there is a lot of loud noise coming from the neighbor. So much so that the vibrations are shaking her glasses off the shelves! One of her new unicorn glasses even breaks. Not good with her opening right around the corner. Blaire is frustrated and heads next door to see what is going on. When Blaire arrives to The Knight Cap, Blaire struggles to get the door open. Once she does she notices the place is under construction, and she sees what is causing the vibrations on their shared wall.
Ronan Knight, the manager/one day owner of The Knight Cap is busy setting up an axe throwing area in the back of the bar when Blaire arrives. It's his goal to get The Knight Cap reopened as soon as possible, so he can start to turn around the company's finances. Without even introducing herself, or saying hello, Blaire goes on the defense, and confronts Ronan. Now obviously this sets things off on the wrong foot. Blaire goes in guns blazing, and demands that Ronan change his layout. After all, her place is near completion, it would be a pain for her to move her shelves. (or so she claims) Ronan isn't backing down though. He tries to explain to Blaire how this cannot happen, and how it really is easier for her to make the changes on her end.
I desperately want to tell you about the competition that ensues, how Ronan helps Blaire sell additional cupcakes, how they find a common enemy, and so much more. I also want to tell you about Blaire's family, because oh my word, they are a unique bunch. That may actually not be the best way of describing the bunch. While I want to tell you about all that, I also don't want to spoil the story. If you are a fan of the enemies to lovers trope, then add Kiss My Cupcake to your list. You may end up cheering them on. You may also fall in love with Henry, and find yourself wanting to know a bit more about his life with Dottie. But maybe that's just me.
Happy Reading,
