Royal Icing {a review}

Today is August 26, which means it is release day for Royal Icing by Aven Ellis!

I have been eagerly awaiting this day since November 14, 2019.

Why that day? Because that is when I finished reading The Princess Pose. The Princess Pose is the second book in the Modern Royals series by Aven Ellis. I adored Liz and Roman, and have been waiting ever so not patiently to return to the Palace, and the squad. Plus I knew that book 3, also known as Royal Icing, would be focusing on Prince Alexander.

For those who do not know, Prince Alexander (Xander) is the heir to the throne. So that means his life is a bit more difficult than that of his brothers, Christian and James. Christian has found the love of his life (an American at that!), and is preparing to wed Clementine. James on the other hand, well he's still at Uni, so he's off living his life.

Xander the Philanderer is growing tired of his past lifestyle, and is read to make a change. He knows that part of preparing for his future as King, will include finding a wife. He doesn't want just anyone though. Xander wants someone who he truly loves. He wants someone by his side that will work with him, support him, and challenge him. He doesn't want a yes person. India was not that person, so he was glad to end things with her.

Poppy Davies is a young 20 something, who has found her passion in life. Her job as a biscuit artist allows her to be creative, and design stunning pieces that people want to have. That being said, Poppy's life is literally sleep, eat, and work. Oh and watching her favorite show! Poppy suddenly has the chance of a lifetime, and has scored an audience with Prince Christian, and his fiancee Clementine Jones. They have seen Poppy's creations, and they want her to create biscuits for their wedding reception. Once Poppy arrives for the presentation, it almost all falls apart. She could miss out on this dream opportunity. All because of the weather, and a crazy driver. When suddenly a hand appears, and grabs the box before the contents can become too damaged.

I would tell you more, but I don't want to ruin it, so believe me when I say you'll just have to read it. You'll feel all the feels, dream of the future books in the series because of side characters (ahem Bella), and just enjoy this romcom.

Obviously, if you have not read A Royal Shade of Blue (Christian and Clementine), or The Princess Pose (Liz and Roman), I suggest you do. After all it will give you a better understanding of the squad, King Arthur, and Queen Antonia. (and chances are, you'll despise Queen Antonia as much as the rest of us do. Although I have a feeling there is more to the story with her, and if that ever comes out we may end up liking her.)

One last thing, check out the Spotify playlist that Aven put together for this book! It has a lot of my current "play on repeat" songs on it.

Thank you to Aven Ellis, who provided me with an ARC of Royal Icing. I cannot wait to re-read the entire series, and remember all the things that have happened with the Modern Royals thus far.

If you read Royal Icing, please let me know your thoughts! I'd love to chat about the book (and every other book by Aven) with you.

Happy Reading,
