The Ice Prince {a review}

If you read my post from yesterday regarding Crystal Perkins, then you already know that she has a new hockey romance series that will be released in August. You’ll also know that Crystal recently revealed that The Ice Prince, a prequel to the Metros Hockey series, is now available as a free download.

Well I downloaded the prequel, and have just moved it to read on Goodreads. The Ice Prince tells the story of Elena and Stone. Elena is a princess whose mother is pressuring her to find a suitable partner. Her mother would prefer someone who has royal lineage. Elena wants nothing to do with an arranged marriage, and has convinced her mother to give her 6 months to live life how she wants. Doing the job that she wants, and not being part of the spotlight. Her mother agrees to the terms. Flash forward 5 months, and Stone Andrews is arriving in the small community. He’s there for promotional purposes to increase tourism, and to improve his image. Shortly after arriving, Stone meets Elena. He’s convinced he’s met her before, but cannot figure out the when or where of a previous meeting. When he learns that she is Princess Elena, he knows he’s in trouble, and the secret he’s keeping might be let out of the bag.

The Ice Prince has me excited for the series. If we are starting off with a royal romance, then I have a feeling I am going to enjoy every minute of the Metros Hockey series. Then again pretty much everything that I’ve read by Crystal Perkins I have enjoyed, so there is that. The only complaint I have is that I wish this had been a full length novel instead of a short story. Maybe had this been a full length novel we could have learned more about Stone’s family and what happened there. Regardless though, I loved the story. I loved the characters. I loved the setting. I loved the meet-cute. I loved the tension between our characters. Even the brief dramatic moment was fitting. I’m curious to see how Elena and Stone are used as side characters in The Love Chirp, and future Metros stories.

If you are a hockey romance fan, who also happens to enjoy royal romances, then grab The Ice Prince. It’s a quick, easy read, and I think you’ll enjoy it.

Thank you for reading my thoughts,
Laura

Princess Elena just wants to keep her tourism job, and not have to choose a royal husband. Especially not one of the men her mother thinks are most suitable.

Stone just wants to play hockey, but knows he has to improve his image. A promotional visit to help boost tourism for a European island seems easy enough.

Two months of working together leads to more than just work for both of them.

But, when Elena must return to her task of finding a royal husband, will a secret from Stone’s past tear them apart, or bring them even closer together?

Meet Crystal Perkins

Crystal Perkins has always been a big reader, but she never thought she would write her own book, until she sat down in 2014 and did it. She's now published over 40 books, and has been featured in several anthologies as well.

She lived in Las Vegas for over a decade, where you could find her running author events and winning bookseller. After moving to ND for over a year, she’s back in Vegas again. When she's not reading a few hundred books a year or chasing after her grandson, you can find her watching hockey (Go Knights Go!) and trying to find the perfect shade of lipstick. A mac and cheese connoisseur, she travels the world looking for the perfect version, while attending book conventions and signings as a cover for her research. Poutine research is also conducted regularly on her trips.

Crystal loves hearing from her readers, so please feel free to send her an email, Facebook message, or Tweet! She's also on Instagram, where you can see her monthly reads!
