Ruthless Monarch {a review}
Overall, the story was decent, but honestly it left me a little wanting. When I was 3/4 of the way through the book, I was debating that it could wrap up in the last quarter as I knew it wasn't going to cliffhanger. I actually wish Ruthless Monarch had been a duet, as that would have allowed the storyline to delve a little deeper and add in more action/drama.
Let's talk rating! As you know, on Goodreads, Amazon, and Bookbub, you can only give full star marks. That makes those in-between ratings a bit more difficult. I chose to mark Ruthless Monarch as a 4 on Goodreads. In reality, it was probably more of a 3.5 or 3.75 for me. Could I have dropped it to a 3, eh maybe, but I think it is better than that. So I'm sticking to my 4 star rating.
Happy Reading,
Matteo Amante.
Dangerous. Deadly. And most of all, devastating.
He’s the king of the city.
Running the mafia and ruling the East Coast.
He’s at war with his cousin, and I am the casualty.
There is nothing Matteo won’t do to win.
He’ll burn everything down to the ground, my hopes and dreams included.
He’s no hero.
He’s the handsome devil who will probably kill me in the end.
Falling in love with the enemy can destroy me, especially when he is my husband . . .

Brightly Burning Bridges {a review}
I just finished reading Brightly Burning Bridges by Ivy Wild, and I'm not okay. I mean I am, but I'm not. I haven't recovered from this book yet.
Okay so I know that this is an enemies to lovers bully romance. I know that. I knew that going in. But friends, I found myself DESPISING Silas for a good majority of the book.
Heck if you look at my Goodreads, these were the two updates I posted.
Silas had me wanting to throw my Kindle at times. If I had a physical copy of the book, it would have flown across the room. It wasn't just his arrogance, I mean that played a big part of it. It was his attitude. I thought it might have improved after high school, but oh no. Silas is the type of man I would avoid at all costs.
So I say that, and I stick to it, but knowing his back story, knowing what he has dealt with, that slightly changes my feelings about him. Just a little bit. Yes, he's gone through this horrible thing that no one ever wants to go through, but it's evident he never had closure. He never healed. He took that pain and let that lead him. I think that also had a lot to do with Silas pushing others away.
As for Skyler, well she wasn't perfect either. But I could relate to her a bit. She was the outsider in school, and she was obviously different than her peers (in appearance and status). Now do I understand why she did what she did for Silas back in high school? Heck no! But whatever. That is what it was. After high school things didn't really improve for Skyler, but she did her best. She was making a life for herself.
Then Silas showed up, and everything changed. We still the back and forth between current day and 10 years prior, but now we get to experience Silas and Skyler with no one standing in their way. (well except for themselves obviously)
My friends, this story...ooooooh... I don't even know what to say.
It was good. It was frustrating. It sucked me in and held me hostage until the very last page, and I freaking loved it. Once you find out about Vartan's history, yeah, that changes EVERYTHING. Like I thought I disliked Silas, oh Silas is NOTHING compared to Vartan. And while I understand why he did what he did, I also want to throttle him for doing what he did.
In the end, I got what I wanted. Although if I'm being honest, I fully thought there was a chance it wouldn't happen. I was a bit worried.
I want to say more, but I can't. Because I know myself and I will spoil something. I will say more than I intend to, and ruin the story.
The teaser is posted below for those who may be curious!
Happy Reading,
Devious {new release}
No, I haven't had the chance to read this mafia romance yet, but once I do I will let you all know what I think. Look for my review to come soon.

Amazon First Reads {April 2021}
Happy April 1st everyone!
If you've been around my blog this year, you know that I like to share the Amazon First Reads options for each month. So since it's a new month, that means we have new book options!
Not familiar with Amazon First Reads? Each month Amazon selects a handful of books and then offers them to Prime members as a free kindle download. The idea is that you'll read the book, and then write a review. Obviously that review is not required, but it's the right thing to do. The other thing to know is that these books that are offered, they're technically not even released yet. That's right. The books that are offered are all May 2021 releases!
(side note: I'm not certain if First Reads is available outside the US. So please keep that in mind.)
So what books are available and how many do we get to choose? Let's find out.
Okay it's looking like we get to select ONE book for the month of April, and there are NINE options.
Looking at the covers, and the genres, I automatically know which book I am selecting. I'm sure you can figure it out too. I'm nothing if not predictable when it comes to my selections.
