Cover Designer: Najla Qamber Designs

Charlotte Ames despises hotheads. You know the type. The growly, perma-scowling bully who blows his top at the slightest inconvenience. And her former boss, Top Chef Mitch Elliott, is the king of all hotheads.

How big of a jerk is he? Big enough to make her hurl a salad at the guy.
Those vegetables didn't ask to be strewn across the floor. But Mitch deserved it!

Is he devastatingly handsome when he loses his cool? Could his stormy blue eyes, flashing with passion, melt the panties right off a gal? That would be a yes. Still, she can't stand him. And she'd thought she'd seen the last of the culinary creep.

She was wrong.

On the cusp of eviction and with five bucks to her name, she needs a job.

Enter the exclusive Nanny Match Agency and an opportunity to make some real cash.

Sounds great, right? Wrong again!

The universe has one messed-up sense of humor. When she wakes up after a margarita bender and learns she's become the hothead's nanny, life goes topsy-turvy! But when the nanny dust settles, she sees another side of the man. A man who might be more than a hothead. A man who gazes at her with such intensity, she can barely keep from combusting.

Don't fall for the hotheaded chef.
Her head knows what to do. If only she could convince her heart.

Could this nanny match be the match that changes everything, or will it get too hot in the kitchen for the nanny and the hothead?

The Lie by Karla Sorensen {a review}

The Lie by Karla Sorensen is a brand new football romance, and it was so dang good! If you are looking for a grumpy/sunshine book, with a bit of forced proximity mixed in, then I hope you'll read The Lie.

Dominic and Faith met each other a few years ago on the internet. They started talking, and would share tidbits about their lives with each other. They only knew their screen names though, no real names were exchanged, nor much detail about their lives. So when Dominic signs a contract for a professional football team, and ends up needing to do a little community service, he meets Faith. There is an instant connection between the two, even though Dominic is a giant ass. He has this chip on his shoulder, and Faith is doing her best to just get him to participate. Never did she think that working with a little girl would make this man shut down. Faith found herself wondering what the story was there. Dominic pushed through, and pushed those memories away to focus on the task at hand. Days later, Dominic realizes that he "knows" Faith. No not the Faith that is here in front of him, but rather the woman she is online. He has put two and two together, and he is determined to have a relationship with her. Faith though is still in the dark about Dominic being her "Nick", and also has a self-imposed rule about never dating an athlete. Been there, done that, don't want to do it again. Yet she is drawn to Dominic. Will Dominic ever tell Faith the truth? Can these two have a relationship? Can Dominic ever heal from his past?

This book made me cry a few times. Dominic talking about his sister, and his family, just had me weeping. I can't help it. It just happened. I really enjoyed The Lie. The fact that it is a football romance helped, but I think even if Dominic hadn't been a professional football player I would have enjoyed it. His profession doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. It's his life, and his experiences that drew me in. Then there was Faith, and she just seems like a fantastic person who isn't completely aware of how capable she is in regards to her job. I think she's also uncomfortable with who her dad is, and the financial aspect of her life. She comes across as a woman who would rather blend in than standout, but with a professional athlete as a parent, blending in isn't really an option. The first meet up at the community center broke me. The way that Dominic reacted to his assignment crushed me. I could feel his pain, his fear, his nervousness. He did not want to do it at all, and it was honestly difficult for him because it brought back memories. I really liked Faith and Dominic together, and was cheering them on throughout the book. After the dramatic moment happened, and Dominic went home to see his parents, I didn't know what was going to happen next. When he talked to his parents about it, and then went to the owner of the football team, the tears came again. It was just so emotional for me, and honestly as I write this I feel the tears welling up. I can't help it.

Go read this book. I think you'll like Dominic and Faith. Especially if you like the grumpy/sunshine trope, because these two fit it perfectly. Oh and if you're wondering about what the lie was, well....it has to do with their big dramatic moment, so I won't say any more about it.

Thank you for stopping by to read my jumbled up thoughts on The Lie by Karla Sorensen.

Rule number 1 for the team owner’s daughter? Don’t date the players.

Especially not hotheaded tight ends with tattoos and impulse control problems.

That's why Dominic Walker is completely off my radar. Sort of.

Babysitting the team troublemaker when he's forced to volunteer for the foundation where I work means I can't exactly avoid him.

I wish I had though. Because once I get to know Dominic, it's almost impossible to ignore the feelings he brings out in me.

Pretty soon, I'm breaking all my rules.

I just have to hope he doesn't break my heart in the process.

Well, let’s see ... I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone's face, then I've done my job.

I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob.

If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies.

I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I'll love you forever.

A new Sons of Sin book!

Are you a fan of Rockstar romances? How about second chance romances? If so, then you need to put Shooting Star in the Rain on your anticipated reads list!

If you've read Bed of Nails (Sons of Sin #2), then you'll recall seeing Jake and Cara in the background. If you've read that book, then you KNOW how the stage was set for their epic romance. I can't lie, I have high expectations for Shooting Star in the Rain. My gut tells me this is going to be an intense story that will be filled with emotional moments.

Is it November 1st yet?

What do you do when your heart wants the one that got away?  What do you do when she comes back broken? Can you love her scars and all?

~Jake~
The day I decided to finally lay out my feelings for the girl of my dreams was the day life threw me a curve.

In order to do what I knew in my heart was right, I had to give up my dreams of making it big with my band.

And my dream of her.

Since i got my daughter out of it, I’m not sorry.

But now a second curveball has just come, courtesy of the band I had to leave.

They’re making the big time now and they need me back.

I’m heading on tour with them, my guitar, my daughter...and her.

A second chance to win the girl of my dreams? Maybe.

But this time around we both have a lot of baggage.

~Cara~
I’m broken. I know it.

My brother knows it.

The band knows it.

Every day I go through the motions, more so I don’t worry the people who care about me than because I’m actually getting better.

Honestly, I don’t deserve to heal.

It was one impulsive decision.

A desire to help my brother and the band I see as brothers.

I’d go along on their tour and play nanny for the most adorable little girl I’ve ever seen.

The band would get one of their founding members back.

A win for everyone.

Until Jake learns more about me than I ever wanted anyone to know.

And I learn more about him than I could’ve imagined.

When life separates two souls, leaving them beaten and bloody, can love forge them into something stronger? When the storms of their past threaten, can their love remain as bright as a shooting star in the rain?

The Puck Drop by Jacqueline Snowe {a review}

The Puck Drop by Jaqueline Snowe is now live! If you're a fan of college romances that feature hockey players and forced proximity, then do I have the book for you! Okay, Reiner isn't technically a hockey player anymore, but he was one up until recently. So that still counts. Plus his internship is with the head coach of the school's hockey team.

Michael Reiner and Naomi both are attending Central State, and both are getting ready to start their internships. The night that Michael is supposed to meet with Coach, he has a beautiful woman come up to him asking him to just play along with what she's going to do. Turns out that the guy she was seeing was also with someone else, and she's had enough! Michael goes along with it, and minutes later finds out that this woman is the daughter of the hockey coach.  Not only is she Coach's daughter, we find out that she is an intern for the team as well. Michael is working closely with the coach, and Naomi is working on creating something different for the player stats. However Coach has little time for Naomi, which is rough for her as she just wants to prove that she can do her job.  After all she purposely chose this internship so that she could work with her dad, yet he's not participating. Anyways, as the season kicks off, Michael and Naomi are constantly together at the games, and they sit by each other on the team bus. They use these opportunities to get to know each other, and there is a definite spark there. Although Naomi isn't so certain that Michael wants her since most men want her twin sister. Do these two continue being friends, or do they risk it all for a potential relationship? Also, can Naomi and her Dad ever work together and mend their relationship?

The Puck Drop had me tearing up a time or two. Seeing Michael still processing the grief that he is dealing with just pulled at my heartstrings. But then seeing the other side of him, the person who tries to see the good in every moment, that made me fall for him. He just seems like an amazing character. Not only is he hard working, but he tries to be friends with everyone while occasionally issuing some tough love. You can also feel his passion for the game, and how it is hurting him to not be out on the ice with the rest of the team. Then there is Naomi, and ugh, her story. I teared up when she was explaining her past as well. Plus there's the drama with her dad, and her twin sister, it's just a lot. All of the things that Naomi is dealing with though eventually get brought up, and the air is cleared. Until that point though there is so much tension. Naomi and Michael being together just works. You can feel their closeness. You can see the base of friendship that they've built, and how they are relying on each other through various tasks. Yes it would be nice if their relationship could be public, but since she is Coach's daughter, AND they are both interning for the team, it really is best that it stays quiet. For now. I truly enjoyed the characters, the setting, and the storyline. It all just felt right. The book was a quick and easy read, and I devoured it.

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts on The Puck Drop by Jacqueline Snowe. I do hope that you'll consider giving this new adult college romance a read. I think that you'll enjoy it, and you'll find yourself looking for more to read in the Central State series that Jacqueline Snowe is creating.

Falling for the coach's daughter was never part of the plan...

Michael Reiner has the new start he’s been craving, where no one knows about his past and he can finally figure out what he wants out of life. Because one thing’s for certain—he can’t play hockey anymore, and life without hockey seems daunting. But when he gets the chance to intern under the Central State Hockey coach, he couldn’t be happier. Until he finds out the mysterious hottie he met at the bar is the Coach’s daughter.

Naomi Fletcher-Simpson has always been the weird twin. She prefers spreadsheets and trivia nights while her popular sister is everyone’s favorite. Things have been tense in her family, so when she gets a chance to pair up with the hockey team for a huge stats project, she takes it. She can repair her relationship with her dad and hopefully score her dream internship in the process.

Neither Michael nor Naomi expected to like each other. Complete opposites in every way, they slowly form a deep friendship that makes their chemistry sizzle, and friends with benefits is the only option to deal with their growing attraction. Michael can’t afford to lose the internship, and Naomi can’t afford to lose her heart to a hockey guy.

For the guy who’s suffered enough loss, and the girl who’s always left behind, they can’t risk falling in love—not when they both know all things come to an end, right?
