Guardian {a review}

Friends! I'm not going to waste any time before I tell you that Guardian by Stacie Santoro was a FIVE STAR READ!

This is the second book from the Salvation Society that I have read, and I'm hooked. Give me all the books in this series. Seriously. Hand 'em over.

Guardian is a paranormal romance! It has been SO LONG since I've read a PNR, and I honestly forgot how much I tend to enjoy them. Aarabelle just accepted a job at Valor-Reed Security, and she has been teamed up with Lorcan. Lorcan is also new to Valor-Reed, but really he's undercover. Lorcan is a Warlock, and he's on a mission from the King to track down an item that is extremely important.

I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK! From the beginning I was all in. Witnessing the work relationship quickly blossom into a friendship, and then them being a couple, was everything. I loved the suspense. I loved the entire storyline. Guardian reminded me of a few Nora Roberts trilogies that I had loved. I want to talk about the scene toward the end of the book when Lorcan was off fighting, but spoilers. SO GOOD! I want more of these characters. I want more PNR featuring a human and a Warlock.

I feel like I haven't said enough about the book, but it's so hard because I don't want to ruin anything. Just know that this book gives you the romance and the suspense/action that is needed with a PNR.

If you are a fan of paranormal romances, work place romances, instalove, and/or the Salvation Society, then GO READ GUARDIAN!

She lives her life in the light.

Aarabelle Gilcher-Dempsey grew up wanting to make the world a safer place. So, when she leaves the FBI to be closer to her family and start her new career back home at Valor-Reed Security, she is both settled and excited. And she’s ready for her first assignment, investigating suspicious break-ins at the homes of the security firm’s exclusive art-collecting clients. But she didn’t expect a distraction in the form of her new colleague or the intense attraction she feels for him.

He’s lived most of his life in the shadows.

Lorcan Ryder, an elite guard for the Warlock King, is sent into the human world to find the exclusive painting holding the Crown Zenith, one of three power zeniths in existence and the source of power for all magicals. And he must find it before it falls into the wrong hands.

When Aarabelle and Lorcan are teamed up at Valor-Reed, their connection is undeniable and more powerful than either can resist.

Aarabelle is about to learn how unsafe the world can truly be.

Lorcan is about to realize that his mission finds him more than he was looking for.

When their worlds collide and danger surrounds them, difficult choices will have to be made.

And a guardian will have to rise.

King's Return {a review}

Friends, this week Xavier Neal is releasing Wiz's Remedy, which is the fourth book in the Camelot Misfits MC series. So in preparation for that new release, I have decided to read the original three books. That's right, I'm diving in to King and Imani's story.

So if you know me, you know that I love 1) a good series, and 2) suspense in a romance novel. What you might not know is that I also have a thing for the King Arthur and the Camelot story. Which is why I liked the Guinevere Deception so much. But that's for another day. What does that have to do with this MC series? Well it is a King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table based! Clearly I had to read it!

King has been away from Camelot for a long time. He was pretty much forced out years ago, and it was in his best interest not to return. That is until Wiz appears and tells him he's needed. A few days later tehre is a party at the clubhouse, and it is there that King and Imani meet. Their attraction is instant.

Imani is so sassy in the beginning of the book. I loved her rant to King when he takes her to the clubhouse after the ordeal at her work. So many times throughout this book I found myself chuckling. Of course then there were also those occasional scenes where I gasped or said "that did not just happen!".

Something else that I really appreciated about King's Return was that Imani is an intelligent woman who has a job she adores. She is confident in who she is and what she likes. All of that held up through the story! So many times I read a book that features a strong, successful woman, and midway through all of that disappears.

I absolutely loved King's Return. I knew going in that it ended in a cliffhanger, so I was prepared for that. Thankfully King's Conquest is already available, so there's no need to wait.

Trust me when I say, you should go read the Camelot Misfits MC series!

Thank you for reading my review of King's Return,

The One I Want {a review}

Happy Monday romance readers!

Today is the day that The One I Want by S.L. Scott is released!

The One I Want starts with a random meeting in a park at 9:17am. It is there that our main characters first interact, and a spark is ignited. From that point on they keep running into each other. At one point Juni realizes that they both live in the same building. But she never tells Andrew that. Neither of them know the other's last name, and one day they run into each other at CWS (also known as the company Andrew runs). Juni was just brought on as a temp, and is rocking the job. And from that point on their story blossoms.

I adored The One I Want. I loved the meet-cute in the park. I loved the awkward moments between the two. I loved seeing Andrew start realizing there is more to life than just work. I will admit that I was a bit confused about Juni's story. There is still a bit of mystery surrounding her, and I don't feel her story was given enough of a focus. The ending though was everything I wanted. So worth it.

If you love opposites attract, work place romances, neighbors to lovers, or the friends to lovers trope, then go download The One I Want!

Thanks for reading my thoughts,

Release Date: May 10

Narrators: Sebastian York & Summer Morton

Tropes: Unforgettable Meet-Cute, Opposites Attract, Office Romance, Neighbors-to-Lovers, Friends-to-Lovers, Perfect Spring Read.

💗

She was everything he never knew he needed.

He was everything she avoided.

💗

It's not the first time I've been called a stalker.

I can’t blame Andrew Christiansen for thinking that since we keep crossing paths, especially when I pop up in the most unexpected of places—his office.

We’re opposites in every way. Not the kind that attract.

I’ve been called a ray of sunshine. He’s been called a grumpy workaholic that needs an attitude adjustment. By me.

Somehow, we become friends, the teasing, flirting, and kissing kind. But this thing blooming between us threatens to turn this relationship from friends-to-lovers into a full-blown office romance.

That's the least of my worries because one or two, little, okay big, secrets I've been keeping may turn him from the one I want into the one I can't have.

Excerpt

I hear a familiar bark and turn back. The woman from the park rushes toward the nearest shop as if I didn’t just bust her for following me. “What are you doing?” I ask. “Are you stalking me?” I might be jumping ahead of myself, but better to settle it now. A lot of weird stuff was happening at the park. Is she to blame?

Despite Rascal’s joy to see me, obstinance stiffens her shoulders, and she scoffs. “You wish.” Her hand flies out. “It just so happens that I’m walking in the same direction. So what?”

“Defensive,” I reply, analyzing her body language. Crossed arms. Straight line across her lips. Half-mast eyelids as she glares at me.

“I’m not defensive. I’m offended. You just called me a stalker.”

“My bad.”

“You’re bad, all right.” She angles her chin up, and adds, “You can go about your day now.”

I’m tempted to chuckle, but I’m thinking it’s wise to restrain myself. “I will. Good day.”

“Good day, sir,” she says to my back as I walk away.

I stop again, but this time, I don’t look back. Forcing myself to walk forward, I continue through the upscale neighborhood to the next block. I busy my attention on the architecture until I hear Rascal bark again.

I knew I shouldn’t have talked to a stranger. She may be hot, but she could also be deranged, using her dog as a ploy to trick her next victim to her lair. What am I even talking about?

When I turn back this time, she sidles quickly up to a coffee shop window, pretending to know the people sitting on the other side.

By how they turn their backs to her, they don’t reciprocate. “Nice try,” I tease.

Glancing at me, she huffs. “I’m walking in the same direction. It’s no big deal, for God’s sake.” She punctuates the words with an epic eye roll as if I’m putting her out. Huffing, she grabs Rascal, clutching him to her side.

“His feet have—”

“Shit.”

“Exactly.”

Anger fills her chest, and she shakes her head, exhaling it loudly with a foot stomp. “Ugh! I’ll go this way.”

As. If. I’m the nuisance.

Me?

Why am I even sticking around to have this conversation? Why am I bothering? Going in different directions—that’s us. She crosses the street, and I turn the corner, both of us heading back to our own lives and hopefully never seeing each other again.

I continue toward the building up ahead alone. I’m good. I’m fine. Alone is how I thrive. I’ll be here a year or two. That’s nothing. I have plenty of work to keep me busy.

Work.

I’m here for work. That’s it. I have a plan in place, and nothing and no one will keep me from achieving my goals.

Meet S.L. Scott

New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and wiling her days away lost in a good book and the movies.

With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald.

She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the worlds those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones.

This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She's obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she's a pro.

Falling For You {cover reveal}

Lea Coll has revealed the cover for Falling for You,
Annapolis Harbor Book 5!

Releasing August 31, 2021

Callie
When I landed my dream job, I didn't realize I'd be working with the one guy I've always avoided.

Jonah.

Caught off guard with a career-ending injury; he is the life and soul of every party, a likable, sociable guy on all accounts. His future relies on the success of the sports complex I've been hired to manage.

But...he doubts my capabilities from the get-go.
I'm tired of being underestimated, of having my capabilities judged by just my pretty face. This is my opportunity to prove everyone wrong, including Jonah.

I just never expected to fall for him, or to learn that Jonah isn't the man he pretends to be.

Now I'm not sure if I can handle the truth.

Jonah
It only takes one injury to ruin your career and I'm not even sure I still have one. Investing in a sports complex made sense, until I realized that Callie was hired to manage it.

She's young, beautiful and has an alluring innocence I have to remind myself to ignore. As my teammate's personal assistant, Callie is off limits in more ways than one. She's straight out of college, has no experience and now my future lies in her hands.

The closer we work together, the more I become captivated by her. She's nothing like I expected her to be, but then we all hide behind masks.

Especially me.

If Callie learns the truth, both my future and my heart could be shattered.

The Offer {a review}

If you know me at all, then you know I am a bit obsessed with sports romance. My typical reads are hockey, football, and baseball, but recently I've gotten into auto racing. Well I've branched out again, and just read a sports romance featuring rugby. I know nothing about the sport, but The Offer by Becca Steele has me wanting to learn!

The Offer by Becca Steele was originally included in the Love is in the Air anthology, but now it's been expanded, and it's been published on it's own! Not only is this novella a sports romance, but it is also has the opposites attract and fake relationship tropes. So if any of that appeals to you, I highly suggest downloading the book.

In this book we meet Victoria and Jake. Jake is a professional rugby player, and he has a bit of an image issue with the press. Meanwhile Victoria is dealing with her mother trying to fix her up with any available bachelor. This is due to the fact that Victoria is divorced (marriage annulled) after her husband was caught with another on their wedding day. Anyways, Jake is looking to fix his image and keep his place on the team. It is decided that a fake relationship might work in Jake's favor, and Ethan knows just who to ask. Victoria. Jake and Victoria could not be more opposite, and it looks like this "relationship" is doomed to fail.

Chances are you know what happens next. 🤣

I loved this novella, and I look forward to reading more of the London Players series. I mean if this is how it kicks off, then just hand them all over. Loved the opposites attract aspect. Loved the banter between the two. And of course I loved the HEA. I will say, I do wish it had been a full length book versus a novella, but I can't have it all. It is looking like Alex will get his story told some time in 2022. So I'll have to keep my eyes out for that one!

So now that I've delved into my first rugby book, who has another to recommend to me?

Before you go, be sure to head over to Becca Steele's facebook page to enter her giveaway for a signed paperback!

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts,

One offer.

A few fake dates.

What could possibly go wrong?

All I have to do is pose as the girlfriend of London Hawks player Jake Savage. The bad boy of rugby, he has a reputation both on and off the pitch.

Neither of us are interested in a relationship, so our arrangement is perfect. We just have to go on a few dates and pretend to be into each other while we’re photographed for the tabloids.

We’re not attracted to each other, so it should be easy.

Or so I thought.

After one hot night, things change. Now, when he kisses me, it doesn’t feel like we’re pretending anymore.

The Offer is a standalone, fake relationship sports romance novella.
