Bad Crush {teaser}

Attention fellow hockey romance fans! We have a new book headed our way!

Bad Crush by Rebecca Janshak is releasing April 27, 2021!

Blurb

There are a lot of really great ways to tell your best friend's brother you have a crush on him, I'm sure.
I should tell him. I'm planning on telling him. But every time Adam's around, I turn into a nervous wreck.

On the stage, I'm bold and brave, but standing next to him, I'm shy and timid.

Overnight I go from pretending I don't love him to pretending I do and hoping he doesn't realize it.

See, Adam needs a date. He's newly single and not looking for a real girlfriend, so he asks his good friend and brilliant actress (me) to play the part.

Acting like I'm in love with him is easy. Hiding my feelings is the real challenge.

Now I have to tell my fake fiancé that I'm not pretending.

My bad crush has gotten me in way over my head.

Weekly Wrap Up

Happy Monday my book loving friends!

Hoping you all had a wonderful weekend, and were able to enjoy some time outside. Here in Minnesota, it was a cool weekend, and pretty much overcast the entire time. Or as I like to call it "Eeyore-ish" weather.  This weekend we celebrated my youngest child. She turned 5 on Saturday, and had a blast playing with her neighborhood friends. Then it was dinner and cake with the grandparents. So much fun was had.

I read SO MANY BOOKS last week. I also wrote quite a few reviews. I love what I do, that is true. I've found that it is also helpful to write reviews for the books that don't really mesh with you as well as for the books you love. It just goes to show that not every book will be a favorite.

Let's go over my stats for the week:

      • Books Read: 6
      • Kindle Books: 6
      • ARCs: 5
      • Pages Read: 1,778

My average rating was 3.83 stars. That's pretty decent.

My favorite book of the week was End Game by Lisa Suzanne. The review for End Game (Vegas Aces #5) will be up later this week. I had been anticipating End Game for a while now as I had to know how Luke and Ellie's story ended. Anyways, we'll talk more about that later this week.

Now that we've discussed my stats, let's move on to the books I read. By the way, if I've already written the review for the book, it will be linked.

Redemption {a review}

Why hello there my reader friends,

Minutes ago I finished reading Redemption by Laura Lee, and oh my heart. This story was so good! SO GOOD! This book is part of the Salvation Society created by Corinne Michaels. Now prior to reading Redemption, I had to look that up to see what the Salvation Society exactly is. Here's what I learned.

The Salvation Society is a collection of books written by various authors, based on the bestselling novels by Corinne Michaels. Each story is a complete standalone that is filled with Navy SEALs, strong heroines, suspense, and most of all...love.

So basically what I'm thinking that I need to go read the Salvation series by Corinne Michaels, and then read all of the Salvation Society books. 🤣 Okay maybe not, but it sounds like fun to me. I see there are 7 books in the Salvation series, and at least 30 in the Society. Ooh, that would take me quite some time. Maybe that isn't such an attainable goal. But there are SEALs, and strong female characters! Not to mention suspense! I love a good romantic suspense story.

Back to Redemption...

If you're unfamiliar with Redemption, it is a second chance romance where the couple were high school sweethearts. Really though their story starts when they were 5, and they had just met for the first time. This book is full of romance, heart ache, and pain (so much pain).

Honestly I cannot even fully put this book into words. Everything that Presley has been through in the last 12 years is just gut wrenching. Add in what Beckett has gone through, not that we know everything but the basics were covered, and my heart. These two have been through so much since they went their separate ways.

What has Presley been through? Well, she's married to a powerful man named Sebastian. What he has put Presley through is absolutely horrible. No one should have to experience that.

There is so much I want to say, but I have to reign it in. I don't want to spoil anything. What I can tell you is that I was rooting for Presley and Beckett to find their way back to each other. I also kept wondering when Sebastian was going to show up, and what sort of chaos he was going to cause. I will say that while the ending was what I expected it to be, I also had pictured some aspects a little differently.

One last thing, I am hoping that Laura Lee is going to tell the Clayton and Nicky's story. I feel that it needs to be told. Fine, maybe I'm just nosy.

Thank you for reading,

Scroll a little further to read the teaser for Redemption. I've also included a link to add the book to your Goodreads TBR, as well as a link for Amazon. Kindle Unlimited subscribers, it's looking like this book is included in your subscription at no cost. Yay you!

I fell in love with Beckett Armstrong before either one of us knew what that meant. He was my first kiss. My first love.

My entire world.

We promised each other forever, and we meant it wholeheartedly. But unfortunately, when tragedy struck, love wasn't nearly enough to save us.

Little did we know...it would only get worse from there.

Twelve years later, Beckett and I wear our scars like finely crafted armor. We've been in survival mode for so long, we've forgotten how to live. After everything we've endured, can we move beyond the pain to forge a future together?

Or are we destined to repeat the mistakes of our past?

About the author:

Laura Lee is the USA Today bestselling author of steamy and sometimes ridiculously funny romance.

She won her first writing contest at the ripe old age of nine, earning her a trip to the state capital to showcase her manuscript. Thankfully for her, those early works will never see the light of day again!

Laura lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, two beautiful children, and three of the most poorly behaved cats in existence. She likes her fruit smoothies filled with rum, her cupboards stocked with Cadbury's chocolate, and her music turned up loud.

When she's not writing or watching HGTV, she's reading anything she can get her hands on. She's a sucker for spicy romances, especially those that maker her laugh.

At Wits' End {a review}

Calling all fans of the enemies to lovers trope! You're going to want to read this book!

Hello friends,

Late last night I finished reading At Wits' End by Kenzie Reed. I went into this book only knowing what the teaser told me. So I didn't fully know what to expect.

Let me tell you, At Wits' End was a really good read. I found myself literally laughing out loud at various times through the book. I also found myself cheering for Donovan and Sienna. I desperately wanted their faux relationship to work out! Would these two eventually talk about what happened in the past, so they could work on their future? Then there was the situation with the development deal. Oooh, that was something I tell ya.

I suppose I should also mention how a reporter was out to sabotage Donovan, Sienna, and the development deal. Her nose was sniffing out a story, and she wasn't caring about any collateral damage that may occur.

At Wits' End was a charming story. From beginning to end, I was all in. I could not put down the book, and just had to know how the story wrapped up. Would Donovan and Sienna get their HEA? What was going to happen with the land development deal? Would Sienna ever ask Donovan for help with her family's business? Would the feud between the Witlocke's and the Ribaldi's ever end?

I want more of this setting. I want more of these characters! I want to read more of Kenzie Reed's books!

Thanks for reading,

Release Date: April 7

The contract says I have to get fake-married to a Witlocke. It didn't say which Witlocke.

Apparently, any stuck-up jerk whose last name begins with W and ends with E will do. Oops, was that my out loud voice?

So I sign on the dotted line and agree to marry vacant pretty-boy Jonathon Witlocke. Voila.

We'll unite our families, and I'll save my aunt's vineyard. Unfortunately, when Jonathon gets publicly busted doing the horizontal mambo with my maid of honor, that deal's off. Enter my nemesis, Jonathon's sinfully sexy tech mogul cousin Donovan.

We've been mortal enemies since third grade, but he's all too willing to take Jonathon's place at the altar, for reasons he refuses to share with me.

We just have to stay married until the end of the summer.

But a lot can happen in a summer.

A dropped towel can lead to unexpected consequences.

Snarky sparring can end in steamy kisssing.

Hidden truths can be revealed under an ancient oak tree. Hearts can melt. And someone can fall in love with the last man on earth who'd want 'forever'.

Wait, that wasn't in the contract.
