Say what now Kim Loraine?

Are you in the Loraine Lovers group on Facebook? If so then you've probably heard the news!

If you're not in that group, but have enjoyed the books focused around the Rykers, Wildes, and Langstons, then listen up!

Chances are you've been waiting on Maverick Wilde's story, and maybe you read the teaser for it at the end of An Irresistible Chance (like I did), well there's a little change headed our way.

Wild Proposition is getting a title change and will be introducing a whole new series. The new title of the book is The Baby Proposition.

Here is what Kim Loraine has to say:
He's still the same cowboy we love, and this is set on Wilde Horse Ranch, but things are a-changing, and this was too good of an opportunity to NOT give you a new world with swoony heroes and smart, sassy heroines to fall for.
Also, can we take a minute to appreciate this cover?
The book is updating on all platforms and if you preordered, you don't have to do anything!

**BLURB**(subject to change)
My best friend wants a baby, and I’m going to give her one.
I wanted Clara the first time I saw her two years ago, but as soon as I figured out we’d be working together, I knew I had to stay far away.
And the friend zone has been working just fine.
Well, mostly.
The night she tells me she’s ready to get knocked up by some random donor changes everything.
Not on my watch.
I might not be partner material -- running the family business and my new hockey team keeps me so busy I barely have time to talk to a woman, let alone fall in love. But, there’s no way I’m letting my friend pick Donor #257, or anyone besides me.
The arrangement was perfect. I make my donation, she gets her baby, we go back to being friends. No strings. No messy heartbreak.
Until I decide it’ll be a lot more fun to make a direct deposit and get her pregnant the old fashioned way. That spark between us? Now it’s a blazing fire I have no desire to extinguish.
Our baby proposition just got a lot more complicated.

_ _ _ _ _
What are your thoughts about the title change, and the announcement of a new series? Personally I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, hooray for a new series! On the other hand, couldn't there have been a ranch hand introduced (ahem: character from An Irresistible Chance) that could have kicked off the new series? As you can see I struggle a bit with change.

What I do know, is that I'll read the book no matter what, and I'll continue reading all the cowboy/ranch romances that Kim Loraine releases. (along with any other contemporaries)

Also, there was a line that I totally skipped! HOCKEY? SAY WHAT NOW? OH MY NEED!

Waiting for Love by Lacey Black {a review}

Happy book release day to Lacey Black! Waiting for Love is the 11th book in The Love Vixen multi-author series, and it was such a cute read!

Not familiar with The Love Vixen? I wasn't either until this book. Here is what I have learned about this project/series.
Starting in January 2021 The Love Vixen series kicks off a year of LV books. Eleven amazing authors have been given the rights to develop Love Vixen inspired stories, each based on one of her most liked blog posts and to be released monthly.
Disclaimer: The Love Vixen concept, letters, posts, and advice are works of fiction. The LV is not a licensed doctor or trained professional, or even a real person. The guidance she gives should probably not be followed because everything is made up by the authors.

So, what is Waiting for Love about? Well it is about Penelope and Theo. They are both single, they are neighbors, the work from home, and there is some serious hate to love/enemies to lovers going on. Theo builds furniture, so naturally his job is quite noisy. Meanwhile Penelope has a desk job that she does remotely, and quite is always preferred. One thing that we learn early on, is that both Theo and Penelope are attracted to the other. Yet they don't speak on it. It isn't until they suddenly find themselves attending the same wedding that things begin happening. Let's back up a bit though. Penelope is sick of being single. She has 7 really good friends, and they are ALL married (or about to be). She's done. So what does she do? She writes to The Love Vixen for some advice. And eventually she hears back. This is the story of what happens from that point on, including everything that happens during the wedding weekend and on.

I said it before, and I'll say it again, this was a cute story. I loved the Love Vixen part of the book. It reminds me of the Delilah radio show. Which I totally listened to on a nightly basis back during my single days. Then there was the hate to love slash enemies to lovers aspect. I loved that there was that tension, that frustration, that attraction. Then when the wedding happened? Oh yes please. But prior to that we had to sit through some slow burn, but it was worth it for the passion that flowed out of Theo and Pen. Everything about this story was just enjoyable. The book was a quick, easy read, and it held my attention throughout. That moment of conflict for our characters, egads, what a great choice for the dramatic effect. Then there was that grand gesture...FANTASTIC!

I really enjoyed this book from Lacey Black, and am curious about the other books in the Love Vixen series.

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts. I greatly appreciate it.

Laura

Dear Love Vixen,
You know the saying “always a bridesmaid, never a bride?” That’s me. I’ve stood beside six best friends, with the seventh to marry the man of her dreams in less than a month. I’ve tried everything, from dating apps to websites that promise to find you deep, meaningful love, only to set you up with a dud who leaves you with the whole check. So, I’m done. Throwing in the towel. Over dating. I’m just going to sit here and wait for it to show up on my doorstep like pizza delivery. I’m… Ugh! Sorry, my neighbor is horrible! I wish you could hear how loud and annoying he is. He’s the worst, even if he is slightly gorgeous. The problem is… he knows it. Anyway, back to my issue. I’m tired of looking for love in all the wrong places! (Wow, cue Johnny Lee.) Help!

Sincerely,
Waiting in Washington

Dear Lady in Waiting,
You’re going about this all wrong. Don’t think of it as giving up. Think of it as the perfect time to do some inner soul-searching and find out exactly who you are and what you have to offer those you love. You know I always say, you’ll never find love until you find yourself.
Sweetie, I wish I could tell you a timeline, but there isn’t one. Finding true love could take years or it could be closer than you think.

Good luck, hon!
The ♥️ Vixen

King of Hearts by Ashley Munoz {a review}

King of Hearts, book 2 in the Rake Forge University series by Ashley Munoz is LIVE! Do not miss this arranged marriage romance! Just a heads up, it is recommended that you read Wild Card before reading King of Hearts. So please keep that in mind.

We originally met Taylor and Juan in Wild Card. Taylor is Mallory's sister, and Juan just happens to be Mallory's best friend. They all attended college together at Rake Forge University. Since Mallory, Decker, and Juan all graduated, things have changed. Taylor has changed, and her life is about to change in a major way on her 21st birthday. She needs to find a way to stop what is supposed to happen, while also protecting her baby. Because yes, she's pregnant. And alone. Then there is Juan. He graduated from Rake Forge, signed a contract with a local team, and when his connections were figured out, that contract was gone. So what now? Can he pursue his dreams, or is he destined to be pulled into the family business? What's going on with Taylor? Can he save her?

I went into King of Hearts thinking, oh this will be a cute little college, opposites attract, best friends sibling, sports romance. HAHAHAHAHAHA. NO. NO that is not what this is. What this book is though, is amazing. Yes, it is opposites attract. Yes it is falling for your best friend's sibling. It is also an arranged marriage (not between Taylor and Juan). It is also a mafia romance. And our main characters? Their family businesses are not what you'd expect. Turns out they both have a little darkness in their past. One thing I want to say before I gush about the book. I did not like the Juan the asshole aspect of the storyline. Yes, it helped fill the hate to love trope, but that just didn't seem to fit the Juan we had met in Wild Card. Honestly though, that was the only thing I didn't like. I loved how protective Juan was. I loved how he jumped back into the thing he didn't want in order to change what was planned. I loved how strong Taylor was. How determined she was. She too was protective. Then with how these two finally came together? Fabulous. Oh, and that big showdown? WHAT?!? FANTASTIC.  There is so much more that I want to say, but I don't want to ruin anything either.

I obviously loved the characters.

I also enjoyed the setting. Then there was that storyline that took me completely by surprise. I'm head over heels for that. I am now eagerly anticipating The Joker, because I need more of these characters. It will be interesting to see Mal, Decker, Taylor, and Juan as the side characters in that book, and to find out how they are involved in it all.

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts on King of Hearts. You need to read this book. You just need to. I can't say any more than that. Read King of Hearts, and then find me so we can talk.

Laura

Failing out of college wasn’t on my dream board.

Neither was getting knocked up.

Just the same, here I am, ready to start another year at Rake Forge University, pregnant and currently homeless.

And it looks like I’m not the only one who’s returned.

Juan Hernandez, my sister’s best friend, saunters through campus with that granite jaw and those raven strands of hair kissing his brow, his whiskey eyes searing everyone to ash.

I’ve avoided him for months, but the second he sees me, the jig is up.

The first thing he does is steal my lips in a ravishing kiss.

A punishment.

The second thing he does is rescue me from sleeping in my car.

A lesson.

Living with him will never work, not with how brash his words are, how hot his constant stare, or how he touches me.

His fingers brand my skin as if he owns me, and on some level, I know he wants to.

What he doesn’t know is that I belong to another man…and come my twenty-first birthday, I’ll return to him whether I want to or not.

My Sister's Flirty Friend by Piper Rayne {a review}

Piper Rayne has just released My Sister's Flirty Friend! That's right, the FOURTH book in the Greene Family series is ready to be read. It is featuring one of my favorite tropes, best friend's sibling. I just adore this trope, and I adore the Greene family, so this is just a win in my book.

My Sister's Flirty Friend is the story between Jed and Molly. Molly happens to be best friends with Nikki (aka Jed's sister), and so there is a unspoken rule about not getting involved with a Greene. That being said, Jed and Molly have always flirted with each other. It's never gone past that though. That is until Jed finds out he's a dad. Then he goes seeking her out, and a secret relationship is formed. Meanwhile Molly is just trying to finish up her college degree, and she just found out that the child she was working with is moving, and therefore leaving the program. Now Molly has to find another child to work with to earn her speech language pathology degree. Not to mention, Ethel, Dory, and Midge have taken an interest in her love life. It's the last thing she wants, but here the trio is. Can her and Jed return to just being friends? Will she graduate? What about Jed's relationship with his daughter?

I have been loving the single parent trope lately. Add in that this one is a surprise, and Jed didn't even know about his daughter, I was even more intrigued. At the beginning of this book, Jed came across rather unfavorably in my mind. The things he was saying to Molly just didn't sit right with me. It wasn't okay. Not at all. Honestly, that almost had me setting the book to the side. But I stuck with it because of the fact that I knew Jed was hurting, he was angry, he just had his world knocked upside down, and also, he learned this behavior from his dad. Then there was how he treated his daughter when they returned to Alaska. It came across as him not wanting anything to do with her, and that just broke my heart. I loved when the Greene's started calling him out on it. Then when Ethel stepped in, and brought in Molly for assistance, I knew this story was about to shift. Molly taught Jed a lot regarding parenting, and about helping his daughter feel at home with him. This interaction between the two showed the potential for them as a couple.

I love this family. I love the setting. The storyline was good. Jed and Molly made their relationship work, and walked away with a happily ever after. They became a little family.

Because of my love for this family (and the setting), I suggest you read the entire Greene Family series. No, Jed's wasn't my favorite, but it was still good. And maybe you won't view Jed the same way I did.

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts on My Sister's Flirty Friend.

Laura

I broke the cardinal rule and slept with my sister’s best friend.

Granted, I’d just found out that I was now a single father to a three-year-old little girl and was low on willpower.

It should also be noted that there’s been sexual tension between us for years. There’s no way it would be a surprise if anyone in our small town found out. That is if we were telling people, which we’re not.

We’re in agreement to keep our affair a secret, especially since neither one of us do relationships.

You’ve probably figured it out already, but things didn’t go as planned.
