Tight Spot by Lisa Suzanne {a review}

I did it! I read Tight Spot by Lisa Suzanne, and what a start to the new season! Oofta. If you're not aware, Tight Spot is the first book in the Vegas Aces: Tight End series. This is the third season, and it is going to be just as drama filled as the previous two. Also, please note that each book in this series (with the exception of #5) will end in a cliffhanger. Don't worry though, you get a new release every two weeks! So you don't have to wait long for the next installment.

What is Tight Spot about? Well, Ben Olson of course. He is a professional football player for the Vegas Aces, and he has been labeled with the "bad boy" persona. Ben doesn't really have an issue with this. He's just having fun. You know who does have an issue with it? The team owner. He wants Ben to clean up his image. As you can imagine, Ben isn't thrilled about this. Yet, he loves his job, and being a part of the Aces. So he's going to give it a try. Enter the plan that his PR person has created. Ben is about to be set up in a fake relationship. Who is his "love interest" going to be? Kaylee Dalton of course. Yes, that would be Luke and Jack's little sister. This age gap romance is going to be a wild ride. But what drama is going to unfold? You know it's coming, but what will it be? How will this affect Ben and Kaylee's "relationship"? How will this "relationship" affect Ben's friendship with Luke and Jack?

Reader friends, I freaking loved this book! Not only does it feature one of my favorite tropes (sibling's best friend), but it is also an age gap, AND a fake romance. Bring it on! I am here for it. If you're wondering what the age gap is, we are looking at about 10 years. Which seems pretty typical with other books I've read.

Ben and Kaylee have known each other for a decade now. Kaylee is someone that Ben has always considered to be like a little sister, so there was no attraction what so ever. Yet lately his thoughts have been changing, and he isn't certain what to think of it. As for Kaylee, she has her sights set on Ben. Even if it's just for a short term fling, she's willing to give it a go. Outside of all of that, Kaylee is struggling with her decision to become a teacher. She's feeling that stress, and so when a new opportunity is tossed her way, she's going all in. Even more so since she'll be forced to spend time with Ben. These two are going to be such a wild ride. I can feel the attraction, the chemistry, the desire, the curiosity. I cannot wait to find out what happens next with them.

One thing I noticed throughout this book is that Kaylee is pretty ignored in her family. Yes, she's the youngest. Yes, her brothers are professional football players. Yes, they also have kids. So naturally she's not going to be in the spotlight. Yet they've almost taken a disinterest in her life. They don't know what she's dealing with at work, or the questions she is trying to answer regarding her future. But then there's Ben who is more than willing to listen, and offer support. Ben see's her not only as a person, but also as someone he is starting to take an interest in. Kaylee of course can reciprocate on that, and she does her best.

I cannot wait to see how Ben and Kaylee's story plays out. I am ready for the drama filled moments, the romance, the steam, and everything else that happens in the Vegas Aces series. Also, I need to read Tight Hold so I can find out what happens next! Even more so since this plan has been set into motion, and a hiccup has already presented itself.

AHHHHH!

If you are a fan of football romances, age gap romances, the sibling's best friend trope, or forced proximity, then you need to go read Tight Spot. I think you'll find yourself curious about Ben, Kaylee, and all the supporting characters. Now of course if you've read the previous two seasons of the Vegas Aces, then I highly suggest you pick up this third season. It's worth it. I promise.

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts. Please let me know if you've read the book, and what your thoughts are.

I don’t date football players.

I’m not interested in the ones who are a decade older than me. I want nothing to do with the ones who play on the same team as my brothers, and I certainly avoid the ones who spend more time in strip clubs than kids’ clubs.

So why do I suddenly find myself faking a relationship with Ben Olson, the bad boy tight end who fits every descriptor on my naughty list?

He’s in a tight spot, and I’m intrigued by the illicit under the dinner table action that proved to me he’s nothing but trouble. He’s hot and I’m bored. He doesn’t do relationships, and I’m just looking for some fun.

Except fun is taking a quick turn into real feelings, and now I’m in a tight spot of my own.

Touchdown by Lisa Suzanne {a review}

The day has finally arrived! We FINALLY get to find out how Jack and Kate's story is going to wrap up. Will these two have their happily ever after or will Michelle get her way? What about that conversation that Kate had heard, at Jack's company, regarding paperwork? Will Savannah and Michelle leak all their info to the press? WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?!?

Those were all thoughts that went through my head as I was reading, and preparing to read, Touchdown. For those who are unfamiliar with the book, Touchdown is the fifth book in the Vegas Aces: The Quarterback series by Lisa Suzanne. This series is one that you have to read in order because each book (well except for #5) ends in a cliffhanger. So clearly you cannot just jump in anywhere. Well I suppose you could, but you'd be awfully confused.

Obviously I will not recap this book. I won't. It's the FINAL book, so I mean if I were to recap it, there would be spoilers, and I don't want to be that person.

What I will say is that this second season of the Vegas Aces wrapped up wonderfully. There were no real loose ends, and everything that happened just made me feel good. Lisa Suzanne tried to get me with Michelle, but I don't know if I can handle a redemption arc. Not yet. It's too soon. But she has opened my eyes to Michelle a little bit, and UGH!

If anything Touchdown has me loving these characters even more than I did previously. Witnessing how Ellie was there for Kate, just that friendship made my heart happy. There was a big change in Jack through the course of this series, and everything that has happened has made me enjoy his character all the more. I understand why he was the way he was in Luke's series. I understand his priorities, how hard he loves, and how hard he protects those he cares about. Kate changed a lot over the course of the series too. She became a stronger woman who finally figured out what she wanted and how to make it happen. Everything that happened affected her, and ultimately made her grow. I just love these characters. The setting was pretty good too. That storyline though. Man oh man did Lisa Suzanne hold me hostage on this one. From the very first page of Traded, to the very last page of Touchdown, I was ALL IN.

Bring on Season 3 of Vegas Aces!

I know there are people out there who don't care for the multiple books that cover just one couple. I know there are. But there is so much that needs to be unpacked, there is so much that the characters need t work through, and then there's the growth that happens. Honestly, it's just easier to go with the cliffhangers, and the shorter stories versus trying to pack all that into one book. Could you imagine how many pages that would be for one single book? Yeah, no thank you. I'll take all these 150-200 page books. Not to mention the anticipation that builds with each book release. It's like a tv mini series that they used to air back in the day.

Please go read all 10 of the Vegas Aces books. Technically you don't NEED to start with Luke and Ellie's story, but it will help you understand things that are discussed, the history with Michelle and Savannah, and why readers were not happy with Jack during that series. Read the books, and come talk to me about them. Please.

Thank you for taking time to read my thoughts.

Laura

As much as I’ve coached the pro football quarterback to believe he always has a choice, this time I’m the one backed into a corner.

My biggest fears have come true. I’m an adult living with my parents as I contemplate my future. I’ve given up everything to make the ultimate sacrifice, but at some point I need to put what happened behind me.

It’s time to imagine new dreams, create new goals, and cheer for touchdowns that aren’t scored by Jack Dalton.

Maybe then I can pick up the pieces I left behind.

TOUCHDOWN is the fifth book in the VEGAS ACES: THE QUARTERBACK series. This series must be read in order.

Turnover by Lisa Suzanne {a review}

Have you been reading Vegas Aces: the Quarterback? If not, you should be! Jack Dalton has turned out to be an amazing character. When I read the original Vegas Aces series that focused on Luke Dalton, I completely disliked Jack. Yet at the same time I knew that deep down he wasn't this guy. This was a front for deeper issues. Anyways, I highly recommend that you read both seasons of Vegas Aces.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you HAVE to read this series in order. So in order to read (and understand) Turnover, you need to have read the previous three books. They are quick reads though, so you could easily binge read them. If you wanted to. As in my Timeout review, I am not going to recap the story. The blurb does a decent enough job, and I am just too worried about spoilers.

What can I even say about Turnover other than it was fantastic? I have continued to fall for Jack and Kate. Michelle continues to confuse the heck out of me, and I wonder what her issue is. Same with Savannah. I don't want either of these women to have redemption arcs, but I need to know what the heck they are thinking! What is their end goal? Turnover picks up at Jack and Michelle's wedding. If you read Timeout then you know how that ended, and the cliffhanger that we were left with. I loved the road trip. Loved the scene at the Wynn. But that scene at the house? OH MY WORD. What? I need Touchdown like NOW. I need to know how the book ends. What happens next with Jack? With JJ? With Kate? With Michelle? Seriously WHAT HAPPENS?!?  Lisa Suzanne is trying to kill me with these cliffhangers! I'm sucked in, and she has me anticipating each book in the series. Kudos to her!

If you are a fan of football romances then you need to read Vegas Aces: The Quarterback. Just trust me on that. I cannot recommend this series enough. I feel like I need to scream it louder.

Thank you for stopping by to read my random thoughts on Turnover. I greatly appreciate it. If you read this series, please let me know. I'd love to discuss it.

Laura

I’m in love with a man who is marrying somebody else. At least that’s what was supposed to happen when I was kicked out of the wedding last night by the bride’s father.

I find myself without a job, without a home, and without the pro football quarterback I’ve fallen for. The only thing left to do is head back to my parents’ place in Kansas as I give up every dream I’ve dared to have since I left it.

I’m just not sure I’m ready for the turnover.

TURNOVER is the fourth book in the VEGAS ACES: THE QUARTERBACK series. This series must be read in order.

Timeout by Lisa Suzanne {a review}

I have been waiting for this day! After reading the first two books in the series, I was counting down to the release of TIMEOUT. TIMEOUT is the third book in the VEGAS ACES: THE QUARTERBACK series that is following the story between Jack Dalton, his fiancee Michelle, and his "assistant" Kate. Please know that this series must be read in order! So if you haven't read Traded yet, please do so.

I'm not even going to recap the book this time, because honestly the teaser (below) says everything you really need to know. Plus by not recapping I don't really need to worry about potential spoilers. Just know we are picking up where we left off, and the wedding is coming quickly.

I am obsessed with this series. I need to know what is going to happen with Jack and Michelle, Jack and Kate, as well as with Jack and the owner of the team (aka Michelle's dad). What is going to happen next? Is Michelle going to keep their son away from Jack? Would she really do such a thing? Can Kate keep Jack in line, and out of trouble? What is going on with Jack's business? Because it sounds like some sketchy shit is about to go down. These cliffhangers are torturing me! Yet at the same time, I am loving it, and find myself eagerly anticipating the next book. Damn you Lisa Suzanne!  Also, I can't believe there are only two books left in Jack's story! There had better be a third season to the Vegas Aces series. Please, please, pretty please!

I highly recommend you go read Timeout. Just make sure that you've read Traded and Tackled first, because that is very much necessary. Go read this series! Go, go now!

Thank you Lisa Suzanne for yet another fabulous book in the Vegas Aces world.

Laura
Release Date: September 23

As Jack’s wedding draws nearer, the cloud over him seems to darken as he goes through the motions. Instead of enjoying the bachelor party and rehearsal dinner, he needs a timeout from the woman he’s set to marry.

If he really walks down the aisle toward her, I can’t keep working with him. Not when I’m in love with him. My boss didn’t hire me to help this pro football quarterback make better decisions. He hired me to make sure Jack marries his daughter.

And as the day of the wedding dawns, my one job responsibility is one of the most morally conflicting things I’ve ever had to do.

Tackled {a review}

Tackled is the second book in the Vegas Aces: The Quarterback series, and it also released on September 9, 2021!

Tackled picked up right where Traded left off. Because this is a continuation story, I have to be careful with my recap and review. After all the last thing I want to do is spoil any part of the story!

So, assuming you read Traded, you know what happened there. Well in Tackled, we get to know Jack a lot better. Bits and pieces of his life are getting revealed, and oofta there is a lot to go through. The big thing though is his relationship with Michelle. Their wedding is coming up quickly, and Jack really does not want to marry her, but he has to. Kate is right by his side though helping him through all the things, all while trying not to fall head over heals for the man. There is some definite chemistry happening, and the tension is thick.

I love Jack. I love Kate. I love that we got to see Luke and Josh make an appearance. My gut tells me that book two was the lead up to a major blowup in book 3. Have I read book 3? Nope. It's just what I'm feeling.  I'm feeling a big dramatic Michelle moment building, and the after shocks are going to be off the charts. So much happened in Tackled, but I can't say anything! Just know you learn a lot, and you see the bond between Jack and Kate becoming stronger. Even while he does his best to push her away.

Thank you for reading my thoughts on Tackled. If you choose to read Vegas Aces: The Quarterback, know that you need to start with Traded. This isn't one of those series where you can jump in at any time. Go read this series, and fall for the characters. (as well as Lisa Suzanne because she's just dang awesome.)

Tackled releases September 9

When compromising pictures of me with the pro football quarterback I’m behavior coaching hit the press, we need damage control. I’m probably going to lose my job since his fiancée’s father—the man who hired me—discovered the pictures as I woke to a cloudy memory of the night before.

My questions surrounding Jack’s relationship with his future bride grow more pressing by the day…especially when his eyes tackle me with all that heat. As he saves my job and I continue to coach him toward better decisions, I find myself falling for him. Maybe my purpose here is to open
his eyes to all his options.

But if he leaves his new boss’s daughter, the consequences could mean the end of both our careers.
