Weekly Wrap Up

Hello my friends! Welcome to a new week.

Last week was a low key sort of week for my family. The kids all had school. The teenager's asynchronous day changed from Mondays to Fridays so that threw our routine off kilter a bit. The 8 year old attended a birthday party at a bowling alley and had a blast. Meanwhile the 6 year old continues to rock his sight word lists that the teacher sends home. The 5 year old had her well child doctors appointment, and then that same day decided to cut her hair. She gave herself a mullet, and we had it fixed the next day. She now is sporting a cute little bob. As for me, well I had my first dose of the vaccine. Oh, and my husband is thinking about applying for a possible new job (at the same company).

Before we talk about the books I read last week, let's start by going over the stats.

Books Read: 7
Kindle Books: 7
Pages Read: 1,764

My favorite book of the week was The Faker by Gina Azzi. Hockey romance, need I say more? I will say picking a favorite this week was ROUGH. So rough. But ultimately hockey won out. Because hockey.

So what did I read? Well let's talk.

Weekly Wrap Up

Happy Monday my book loving friends!

Hoping you all had a wonderful weekend, and were able to enjoy some time outside. Here in Minnesota, it was a cool weekend, and pretty much overcast the entire time. Or as I like to call it "Eeyore-ish" weather.  This weekend we celebrated my youngest child. She turned 5 on Saturday, and had a blast playing with her neighborhood friends. Then it was dinner and cake with the grandparents. So much fun was had.

I read SO MANY BOOKS last week. I also wrote quite a few reviews. I love what I do, that is true. I've found that it is also helpful to write reviews for the books that don't really mesh with you as well as for the books you love. It just goes to show that not every book will be a favorite.

Let's go over my stats for the week:

      • Books Read: 6
      • Kindle Books: 6
      • ARCs: 5
      • Pages Read: 1,778

My average rating was 3.83 stars. That's pretty decent.

My favorite book of the week was End Game by Lisa Suzanne. The review for End Game (Vegas Aces #5) will be up later this week. I had been anticipating End Game for a while now as I had to know how Luke and Ellie's story ended. Anyways, we'll talk more about that later this week.

Now that we've discussed my stats, let's move on to the books I read. By the way, if I've already written the review for the book, it will be linked.

March Top 5

It's that time again my friends, time to recap another month of reading!

March was a month. My husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. It also marked one year of this pandemic. My oldest child returned to school full time, for the first time in a year. I was also summoned for jury duty in March, but did not have to report. (YAY!) Then there was the fact that both my parents were in the hospital at the same time, in different states, and it was stressful. (both are now fine) In March I also got to see my best friend for the first time in a long time. Outings with her are some of my favorite things. They always bring a smile to my face and I cherish that time with her.

Before we talk about my top 5 books of March, let's go over my stats.

In March, I read 22 books, which totaled 6,338 pages.

The book breakdown is
    • 22 books read
    • 2 physical (library) books
    • 9 kindle books I own/or purchased
    • 11 advanced reader copies
My average rating was a 3.95 ⭐️

Breaking my ratings down a bit further we have:
    • 2   - Five Star
    • 17 - Four Star
    • 3   - Three Star

I also DNF'd a book this month, High Heels in the Highlands, and opted not to rate the book or include it in my monthly stats (other than as a DNF). Nor did I mark it as read on Goodreads. Simply put the book was too slow moving for my liking, and I just could not get involved in the story. Plus it claimed to be a romance, but by the time I DNF'd it (13%), there was no romance to be had. It is what it is, not every book will be the book for you.

My longest book of March was Driven by K Bromberg. It was 806 pages. (to be fair, it was a ebook boxed set)
My shortest book of March was Hockey Hunk by Kat Obie. It was 91 pages.

In March, my new to me author count was 8. So not as impressive as February, but still it's 8 new authors that I've discovered!

Are you ready for my top 5 books of March?

February Top 5

Well this post is a little over due. I had originally planned on this going live at the beginning of March, yet here we are. Oops. That's what happens though when you take two weeks off. So yeah.

Before we move into my top 5 reads for February, let's take a look at my stats.

In February, I read 23 books, which was 5,587 pages, and 2 hours of audio.

The book breakdown is:
  • 10 advanced reader copies
  • 5 physical (library) books
  • 7 kindle books I purchased
  • 1 audio book from scribd
Let's talk ratings. My average rating was 3.7⭐️

Breaking it down a bit further, we have
  • 1 - Five Star
  • 17 - Four Star
  • 4 - Three Star
  • 1 - One Star
Now to be fair, that one star was a DNF, and I felt it needed to be rated. But we're not going to talk about that.

My longest book read in February was, Wake My Heart by Lydia Michaels. It was 406 pages.
My shortest book read in February was, Second Chance Sweetheart by Charity Ferrell. It was 64 pages.

In February, I read 13 new to me authors! OH MY WORD! That's awesome.

The time has come to talk about my top 5 books for February. After a lot of back and forth, I've settled upon my list.

5) Take A Hint, Dani Brown

by Talia Hibbert

Take a Hint, Dani Brown drew me in. It moved fast, the characters were personable, and I just loved it. The relationship between Zaf and Dani was adorable. I loved the fake dating aspect of their story. Then of course there is the Brown Sisters. These ladies are just fantastic, and bring a smile to my face. Zaf and his love of romance novels had me smiling as well. He would fit in great with the guys from the Bromance Book Club.

Oh and I'm 95% certain that Dani is my favorite of the Brown sisters.

4) Intercepted

by Alexa Martin

Intercepted is such a fantastic book. Heck the entire Playbook series is amazing.

I freaking loved Intercepted. LOVED IT. I fully believed it had the potential to be a 5 star read. And honestly, it probably should have been. But there was something in the last third of the book that had me wavering.

No matter what though, my thoughts about wanting to have physical copies of this series holds true.

3) Undercover Bromance

by Lyssa Kay Adams

I had been wanting to read Undercover Bromance since March 2020 when it was released. I absolutely loved Bromance Book Club, and had high hopes for its sequel. Yet for some reason I kept pushing it off. That changed in February 2021.

I had originally thought Undercover Bromance was going to be a sports romance, but I was wrong about that. And I'm perfectly okay with that.  It truly did not matter because the content of the book pushed all those other thoughts out of my mind.

Liv and Mack could not have been better paired. These two are the embodiment of enemies to lovers. I still think about Undercover Bromance, and it's been over a month since I read the book!

So good, and highly recommend.

2) Balls to the Wall

by April Canavan

If you recall my review of Balls to the Wall, then you might remember me telling you to have tissues handy for this book. I stand by that recommendation. Heck I was tearing up within the first couple of pages. I also briefly told you there were content warnings, and again if you need to know specifics, let me know. (I don't want to spoil anything)

This small town, second chance, romance gutted me. Heck within the first few pages I was tearing up.

Parker, Remy, and Nox have stolen my heart. Balls to the Wall was the first book in the Birch Police Department series, and I cannot wait to see more of these characters in future books. I'm sure I will fall even further for them as they help their friends out (and witness them fall in love).

So what book made the top of my list?

1) Make It Sweet

by Kristen Callihan

Now let me just say, Make It Sweet was my ONLY five star read for the month of February, and that was what helped to push it past Balls to the Wall to take the number one spot.

This love story grabbed me from the beginning. We get to see Emma and Lucian's relationship building, but we also see them grow individually. They are both gaining confidence to get back out there with their careers. The spark that these two have is off the charts.  So much steam in this book.

The fact that Make It Sweet has a bit of a sports romance thing going on definitely influenced my love of the book, but really it was just Lucian and Emma that sealed the deal. In the beginning we had two hurt people trying to heal. In the end, well, there is love.

Weekly Wrap Up

Happy Monday my fellow readers!

Last week was wonderful. Obviously I managed to do a lot of reading, that just goes without saying. I also did a bit of spring cleaning around my house. I still have a lot more to go, but I'm off to a good start. Now I just need the weather to warm up a bit more so that I can open windows! (and wash said windows)

Did you see those four reviews I posted last week? Dang did that feel good to get back into. Yes sharing mini reviews here on my weekly wrap up is nice too, but there is something about dedicating an entire post to a book (or series) that just makes my heart happy. This week there will be a few more reviews posted. My goal is also to post my April Anticipated Reads, and my top 5 reads for February. I was contemplating a Romanceopoly post, but considering I've read 1 out of 4 books for March, I think I'll skip it. The idea of a TBR game is wonderful. I love doing the rolls and figuring out the books to fit the prompts. My execution however leaves a bit to be desired. So yeah.

Enough about blog plans though. Let's talk reading stats for last week.

    • Books Read: 6
    • Kindle Books: 6
    • Physical Books: 0
    • ARCs: 6
    • Pages Read: 1,514

My average rating was 4.16.

Since I've posted reviews for three of these books, I am going to switch things up a bit. Instead of rewriting the reviews, or sharing the descriptions, I will let you know the tropes and maybe share one of my favorite quotes from the book. I will also link to the review so you can go check that out should you so choose.

This week I have reviews scheduled to go live for Waiting Game, Watch Me Burn, and Boots on the Ground.  So keep your eyes open for those! Once they are live, I will come back and edit my post with the links. 🙂

Weekly Wrap Up

This is my first week of Jury Duty, and I am not excited about it in the least. Yes I know it's something that has to be done, but that doesn't change the fact that I don't want to do it. It throws a wrench in the schedule/routine my family has, but should I have to go in I am thankful my husband's employer has no issue with him working from home. I am also thankful that my county doesn't make you appear every day. Instead they have you call in the night prior and let you know if you're needed or not. Here's hoping it is 9 more days of them not calling my group number!

Let's talk about what I read last week. if you go by the covers I share with you, I only read two books. TWO! However, one of them was a boxed set that contained four titles. So I mean if you want to get specific you could say I read five books this week. 🤣

    • Books read: 2
    • Pages read: 938
    • ARC: 1
    • EBook: 2

Average Rating: 4.5 stars

So what were the two books I read?

1) Fair Game

by Lisa Suzanne

Fair Game is a continuation of the Vegas Aces series, and picks up where the cliffhanger left us at the end of Long Game. So if you've read the first two books, you already know we are in Hawaii, and the relationship between Luke and Ellie is strained to say the least. The desire is there. The tension is there. Yet Luke keeps holding back.

Let me say that at the start of the book Ellie is faced with two options. One has the potential to cause issues, the other would be the safe choice. While reading I was (internally) screaming at Ellie not to do what I thought she was going to do. DO NOT DO IT ELLIE! BE SMARTER THAN THAT! IT'S A TRAP WOMAN! Ugh.

Also, Luke's family is just odd. But we knew that at the end of Long Game. But I mean I did think his sister was the "normal" one of the group. HA!

There is so much I want to say. SO MUCH. Yet pretty much any of it has the potential for spoilers. Just know, the cliffhanger at the end. Oofta! I was so glad that Luke and Ellie did what they did before hand. Still though, I cannot wait to see how this plays out in Waiting Game!

As with the first two books in the series,  Fair Game received 4 stars.

2) Driven

by K. Bromberg

I wasn't even aware of the Driven series until K Bromberg was promoting the boxed set bind-up on Facebook. I immediately clicked over to Amazon, looked at the Kindle price, gasped as I do not typically spend that kind of money for "one" book (it was $9.99, which isn't horrible, but more than I typically will pay), and then clicked the buy now button because I needed to read this series!

I mean it's about a RACE CAR driver! I just didn't know if we were talking NASCAR or IRL. Did it matter? No not really. I mean was I hoping for NASCAR, well yes because I used to be a big fan. Plus it's a sports romance sport that I haven't read, but am interested in! (did that even make sense? I hope it did.)

Okay so what to even say about this four book boxed set. It's FREAKING AMAZING and will take you on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride. There were times this story had me UGLY crying. Colton and Rylee are just -no words-. No words can do them justice. I want to be in their circle of friends though because that would be fantastic.

In this series, K Bromberg shattered my heart and then put back together only to repeat the cycle a few times.

And now I find myself needing to subscribe to PassionFlix so that I can watch the tv show version of the books. I NEED TO. It's completely worth the $5.99 or whatever the price is. Right? Right.

I can't say anything else about the series, because I am not giving spoilers. Just know, I gave this boxed set 5 stars. Yep. It's rare that I had that out, but it had to be done. HAD TO.

One thing I do want to mention is that should you choose to purchase the series, I would suggest either buying the Kindle bind-up, or buying all the books separately. I read through the reviews for the printed bind-up, and apparently the font is miniscule. So yeah, that's not good. Keep that in mind if you consider adding this to your home library.

That's it. Those are the two books that I read. They were both spectacular, and I want more from both authors.

Have you read the Driven series? How about watched the TV show? Are you reading the Vegas Aces series? Are you as sucked in as I am?

Happy Reading,

Weekly Wrap Up

As you know I took the last two weeks off from my blog. While I took a break from writing here, I did not take a break from reading.

Here are my stats for the first week in March.

    • 6 books read
    • 1 ARC
    • 5 e-books
    • 1 library book
    • 1,365 Pages Read

Average rating of 3.5 stars.

On to the books I read.

1) The Pilot and the Puck-Up

by Pippa Grant

I don't know what to think about this book. It had such potential. Hockey players + RomCom = WONDERFUL. Right? Yet for me this book missed the mark. The humor was there, but yeah no. Yes there were good parts, but the way the heroine was portrayed just rubbed me wrong. Again, the potential for greatness was there. Sigh. Why is it anytime there is an intelligent female, that always gets pushed to the side?

In the end I gave it a generous 3 stars.

2) Recovery

by Nicole Dykes

I wasn't certain what to expect when I started reading Recovery. Especially since Recovery was my introduction to Nicole Dykes. All I knew was what the description told me. I didn't know what sort of loss Mya was dealing with. I didn't understand why she left town. I didn't know any of that. Maybe had I read Clarity and/or Redemption prior to reading Recovery, then I might have more of a backstory.

All I knew was that Mya was hurting, and leaving town was the best option for her. Mya is also fortunate to have friends who are willing to help. I want to say I was surprised about how Mya kept everything close to her chest, but at the same time I wasn't. It's what she grew up doing, so it was habit.

Overall I liked the story. The bonds that Mya created with everyone was amazing. Especially since she was trying her best to keep everyone at a distance. The only thing I wish had been different was Mya's reaction to what Jase told her. Personally, I think she overreacted. Maybe had she told Jase (or anyone for that matter!) a bit more about her past, he might have understood where she was coming from. But that wasn't the case.

Recovery was a good book, and I am definitely considering going back to read Clarity and Redemption. I want to know more about Rhys, Logan, and Quinn. Also, I'm hoping there is a book coming for Charity, because that last little bit in the epilogue has me intrigued.

3) The Risk Taker

by Gina Azzi

The Risk Taker is the second book in the Boston Hawks series, and it gave me everything I wanted. Easton and Claire's relationship was what I imagined it would be with everything we learned in The Sweet Talker. I will say I cannot imagine living with my crush and trying to keep it platonic. Is that even possible? Especially when both parties are interested?

I am loving the books in this hockey series, and am ready for The Faker!

Four stars all the way!

4) Already Written

by Xavier Neal

If you know me, you know that I adored Xavier Neal's Hockey Gods series, and that I freaking loved the Bennett Duet. I am also hoping to get my hands on an ARC for her upcoming release, Aleatory. (if not, I will be buying it.)

I went into Already Written with high expectations. A celebrity romance with a romance author? HECK YA, bring it! I will read that anytime. That being said, Already Written was just okay. Nothing special.  Knowing what I know about the characters Xavier Neal creates, I was expecting more. Minka and Pierce had the connection. They had the passion. Yet something was missing.

5) Snapped

by Alexa Martin

Since I had read the first three books in the Playbook series, there was no way I was going to miss Snapped. While my county library didn't have it on hand, I did take advantage of the inter-library loan program, and had it brought in from another location. I am so glad that I did.

Snapped was a phenomenal book. I loved how it touched on kneeling during the anthem, and protesting for change within the league. I loved how the team came together to support Quinton's cause (CTE & past players receiving better care/payment). Yes some people might find issue with the subject matter in the book, but that's on them.

Now this book wasn't perfect. There were definitely areas where it just didn't feel finished. Primarily in the relationship between Elliot and Quinton. Then there was also the explanation of Quinton's causes. They were not really explained until later on in the book. The owner of the team though, damn. He's horrible. I will say that Snapped wasn't my favorite of the series, but I still appreciate it immensely.

I gave Snapped 4 stars

6) Hockey Hunk

by Kat Obie

Imagine my surprise when I randomly commented on a post in a Facebook group, only to then be tagged as the winner of a book. This is actually the second time that has happened. I'm perfectly okay with that too!

When I saw that I had won a hockey romance book, I was all in. It is my favorite after all.

I went into Hockey Hunk knowing nothing about the book. Occasionally it's a thing I do, and 90% of the time it works out wonderfully.

Let me just say I liked the idea of the Hockey Hunk storyline. The execution, well it left a little something to be desired. This isn't a spoiler, as it is written right into the description, so keep that in mind. Who in their right mind would choose a fake pregnancy as a prank to get other pranks to stop? WHAT? I might expect something like that from high schoolers or MAYBE college students, but from a man in the NHL? NO, just no. That was a big miss for me. Now that I said that, let me say, I did like the romance between Renee and Matt. I love the best friends sister trope, and so in that regard I was good to go. It's the prank that I didn't appreciate. They could have faked an engagement instead. That would be fitting. But for Matt to automatically go with fake pregnancy? No.

When all was said and done, I did give the book 3 stars.

Those are the books I read the first week in March! Have you read any of these books? If so, tell me which one and I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Happy Reading,

Weekly Wrap Up

Well hello there my fellow readers.

The last two weeks flew by, and it was a bit strange to not update things here.  I completed my jury duty, which really just means that I called the jury line every day to find out if I needed to report in. Last week was also spring break week for my kiddos. We did nothing, and I'm okay with that. My kids loved playing outside, and also got to know the new neighbor kids. Oh, and I did major laundry. Fun times. They are off again today, but return to school tomorrow.

That being said, I did manage to read quite a few books. Which should surprise no one.  Here are my stats for the week:

  • 6 Books Read
  • 5 were e-books
  • 1 was a library book
  • 2 of the e-books were ARCs
  • 1,682 Pages Read
My average rating was 4 stars. Well it's my average since every book read this week was given four stars. What can I say, it's my go to rating.

Let's dive into the books.

Weekly Wrap Up

Why hello there March! Glad to see you. Please tell me your friend Spring isn't too far behind you. I'm sick of snow. I want warmer temperatures, and the snow to melt. I don't think it's asking too much.

Last week was a ridiculous good week for reading. Seriously not my normal, and I do not expect to see it happen again. Here are my stats ⬇️:

              • 8 Books Read
              • 7 E-books
              • 5 E-Arcs
              • 1 Physical Book
              • 1,875 Pages Read
My average rating was 4.5 stars. Which is amazing.

Not too shabby, am I right?

Let's jump in and start talking about the books.

January Top 5

Hello my fellow book lovers!

Now that January is officially over, I want to take a moment to take a look back and recap my month. I will also be sharing my top 5 reads for the month, and believe me it was very difficult to make that selection.

Let's start with the stats.

In January, I read:

    • 19 books, all of which were e-books
    • 5,776 pages
    • 8 advanced reader copies
    • 1 library e-book
    • 10 books I own and/or purchased

My average rating was 3.95 out of 5.

Speaking of ratings, my breakdown looks like this:

    • 3 books received 5 stars
    • 12 books were 4 stars
    • 4 books were given 3 stars
Not too shabby!

The longest book I read was One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London, and it was 424 pages.

The shortest book I read was One Night with the Rebel by Kendall Ryan, and that was 67 pages.

I also read 8 new to me authors! So that's pretty darn amazing.

Goodreads: Year in Books

It's that time of year my friends.

It is time to look at the stats Goodreads has put together utilizing the information I've provided them.

We are talking books read, pages read, average rating, shortest book, longest book, and average book length. Of course Goodreads also shows you the cover for each book you read. They also refresh your memory of the first review you wrote for the year, as well as the last review of the year. Now I don't tend to write my reviews on Goodreads, so I ignore that part. Goodreads doesn't tell you your most read genre, but I decided to add that in. (we all know what mine is anyway)

Are you ready to see my reading stats for 2020? I know I am!

Books read:

310

Pages read:

79,477

First Book of 2020:

Green Tea Latte to Go by Aven Ellis

Last Book of 2020:

Only One Night by Natasha Madison

Shortest Book: 72 Pages

The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill

Longest Book: 556 Pages

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Average Book Length:

256

Average Rating: ⭐️

3.8

Most Read Genre:

Romance

I absolutely love how I started the year with one favorite author, and ended the year with another. That just might be the perfect way to do it. After all I know I'll start with a happily ever after, and I'll end with one too.

Now I feel like I should preface my year in books by saying this isn't typical for anyone, especially me. Reading the amount of books I did was pretty much my escape from the pandemic. Some turned towards bingeing tv shows, others toward trying new recipes, others toward fitness. I turned to books.

What did your stats look like for 2020? What was your original goal? Most read genre? If you met your goal, that's awesome. If you didn't meet your goal, that's okay too!

Happy 2021! May this year be filled with books that bring you happiness.

Books I read in August

Wasn't it just August 1st? How are we in September already? This is not making sense. Especially since other months felt like they went on FOREVER. (I'm looking at you March and April)

Curious what I read in August? I'll let you know now it was all romance, and I read a lot of new-to-me authors. It was splendid. Keep reading to find out about the books I read.

Books I read in July

Another month of 2020 is in the books, and I spent the majority of July with my nose in a book.

Curious how many books I read in July? Did I read something other than romance? Keep reading!

2019 Reading Stats

2019 was an interesting year for my relationship with reading.

Let's go month by month. For the first half of the year I will share the books I read that month, but July sparks a reading binge, and there is no way I am listing all the books. Trust me, you'll thank me for that. If you want to know what I read, head over to my GoodReads account.

I read 3 books in 3 days. It was a Christian suspense trilogy called If I Run by Terri Blackstock.  Each book received a 4 star rating. I absolutely loved the series. There were times while reading it that I was literally holding my breath.

I read 1 book. Yep, ONE book. At the end of the month I read Becoming by Michelle Obama. It was so interesting to learn more about her life before she became the FLOTUS, and then even her life during those 8 years in the White House. I was captivated throughout the book. This was a 5 star read for me.

I read 3 books. First up was Good Luck with That by Kristan Higgins. It was an interesting read, and touched on some difficult subjects. I gave it 4 stars. Next up was This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp. Oofta, this book. It is a fictional book that covers a school shooting. It was a tough read, but a necessary one. I definitely cried. I absolutely recommend this book. 4 stars. Last up for the month was Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. I went into this book knowing very little. It was an impulse buy during Barnes & Noble's 50% off sale. 9 months later, I still don't know how to put that book into words. It was intense at times, there were bizarre moments, and ultimately it is memorable. Yet something didn't resonate with me, and I gave it 3 stars.

I read one romance book. It was called Get Lucky by Lila Monroe. The book had me laughing, and I did enjoy the romance aspect. For those unfamiliar, the book takes place in Vegas. Julia is a romance author who is there for a conference. Meanwhile Nate is in town for his friend's wedding. Things happen, Julia and Nate hook up, but their memory of the night is fuzzy at best. I gave it 3 stars.

I read two books that I received for review from Waterbrook Multnomah. First up was Becoming Us by Robin Jones Gunn. This was the first book in a new spinoff series she is working on. I adored this book. The friendship that the women have is something I long for. I do admit that I feel a bit like Emily. Not wanting to put myself out there, and not feeling confident/comfortable with my "status".  I gave the book 4 stars, and I am looking forward to the next installment. My other book of the month was a Christian historical romance called No Ocean Too Wide by Carrie Turansky.  This book had me wanting to learn more about the orphan children who were sent from England to Canada as laborers between 1869 and 1939. I would like to believe that hearts were in the right place, but my brain knows better. Looking forward to book 2 so I can find out what happened to the siblings.  This was another 4 star book.
I managed to read 4 books. It was my best month for the first half of the year. Full disclosure: those books were not read until the last week of the month. The first book I read is The Middle Matters by Lisa-Jo Baker. The book had been sent to me by Waterbrook Multnomah, and I was on the launch team. Lisa-Jo has a way of speaking to my heart. Rating wise, I felt this was a 4 star. My second read for June was Planet Earth is Blue by Nicole Panteleakos. This book, oh this book, I cannot even put it into words how much I loved it. The book also broke my heart. Again, I gave it 4 stars. Next up was a novella called Appalachian Serenade by Sarah Loudin Thomas. It was cute, and I still want to read the remainder of the series. 4 star rating. Last but certainly not least was Then Came You by Becky Wade. It was an okay story. I honestly don't remember a lot about it. In the end I gave it 3 stars.
I read 13 books! Hello feast, I am so happy to see you. Average rating was 3.92 stars. My most read genre was romance. This month I also participated in my first readathon, which was The Reading Rush. I also discovered the joys of Amazon's First Reads program. This month they allowed us to download 2 free kindle books. I selected A Fire Sparkling and Relative Fortunes.
I devoured 15 books! My average rating was 3.8 stars. The genre I read the most of was romance. I also participated in my second readathon, which was called Discover New Worlds. It is a readathon hosted by Paige, who runs the Creating & Co Book Club on Facebook.
My book consumption jumped to 20 books read! My average rating was 3.05 stars. My preferred genre was romance. September also brought about another readathon for me. This time it was Contemporaryathon. This month I also read Nimona which was my first graphic novel
My books read increased again. This time I read 24 books. My average rating was 3.79. My most read genre was romance/rom-com. This is the month I discovered the writings of Aven Ellis, and I devoured the majority of her books. I had yet another readathon this month. This time it was Read in Peace which was hosted by Paige with the Creating & Co Book Club. At the end of October I also hit a bit of a reading slump. It lasted 11 days, which seems short, but when you've been binge reading like I had been a slump hurts.
I had another slight jump in my book count. I managed to read 27 books! I was in disbelief over this number. Never in my life (okay maybe back in my early years when I was reading BabySitters Club & Sweet Valley Twins/High) have I read this many books in a month. Wow! My average rating was 3.33. My most read genre was once again romance. I joined in on the TisTheSeasonathon readathon for the first time, and loved the group read 10 Blind Dates. It was a cute YA read.
My reading began to slow down, and another slump wormed it's way in. I ended up reading 10 books, and my average rating was 3.5 stars. This month my primary focus was Christmas titles. Okay fine, the end of November was that way too. I'm not complaining, I love a good Christmas story. I tried to participate in one last readathon (Treat Your Shelves by Creating & Co Book Club), but the slump hit directly at that time. So my participation was severely lacking. Here's hoping I can break the reading slump quickly. I am missing books, but also kind of enjoying the break.

So what's the final numbers? Well the kind folks at GoodReads gave me this information.

I cannot wait to see what my 2020 stats end up looking like.

How did your year end up? If you set a goal on GoodReads did you make it?
