A to Z Reading Challenge 2023 (April Update)

Goodbye April! You went by way too quickly. Since it's basically over, it's time for my A to Z challenge update!

I crossed off ONE letter. ONE! And it was for the title challenge. UGH! Hey, progress is progress though, and that's what counts. Maybe in May I'll be able to cross off some of the remaining Author letters. Maybe. The title challenge letters are getting a lot more challenging since I only have Q, X, and Z remaining.

Were you able to complete any letters this month? How many do you have left to go? Also are you doing the title challenge, the author challenge, or are you doing both?

See you back here at the end of May for another update!

Happy Reading,
Laura

A to Z Reading Challenge 2023 {March Update}

March is over, and so it's time for another A to Z challenge update! Things slowed down this month for progress on my open letters. I knew this would happen, but I wasn't fully expecting it to this extent. Yet I chose what to read, and didn't pay any attention to my open letters.

I still made progress though, even if it was minor. Were you able to complete any letters this month? How many do you have left to go? Also are you doing the title challenge, the author challenge, or are you doing both?

See you back here at the end of April for another update!

Happy Reading,
Laura

A to Z Reading Challenge 2023 {February Update}

It's time for my second check in for 2023's A to Z challenges! I've knocked a few more letters off my list, and I am so happy to be making progress. Here's hoping that 2023 is my year to complete these reading challenges.

Were you able to complete any letters this month? How many do you have left to go? Also are you doing the title challenge, the author challenge, or are you doing both?

See you back here at the end of March for another update!

A to Z Reading Challenge 2023

It's the end of January! The first month of 2023 is in the books, and I am in disbelief at how fast it went by. I can't be the only one.

At the beginning of the year I made the decision to participate in the A to Z challenge again this year. As we all know I did not complete it in 2022, but I made fabulous progress.

When it came to the title challenge, I missed it by 3 letters (X, Y, Z). The author challenge I only missed by 2 (I, O)

So here we go with my first check in for 2023. Once again I will be doing the title and author editions of this challenge. Let's see what I was able to cross off in the first month.

WOW! That is quite the start for the 2023 A to Z challenge! I can tell you now that not every month will have that much at once. It's easy to do at the beginning.

Just a reminder that with the Author Challenge, I will use first names or last names to complete the letter. When it comes to the title though, I go for the first letter (not including The, A, If). I may make exceptions for a few letters, but time will tell on that.

Are you doing the A to Z challenge this year? How is your list looking? Did you read any of the same books as me?

See you back here at the end of February with my next update!

Happy Reading,
Laura

A to Z Challenge {update}

Remember at the beginning of the year when I kicked off this challenge? I thought for certain I would be on round two at this point. Wow was I wrong!

Since my last update on May 2, not a lot has changed on my lists. I managed to complete 2 additional author letters, and 3 book letters. So not a lot by any means. Little by little though I'm getting things done. I've looked through my backlog of kindle books, and it is looking like I will be able to complete these two challenges by the end of the year. The only slot I haven't found a book for is the letter X. I will track one down. I will!

What letters was I able to cross off? Let's find out.

Remember, the salmon color is the new additions to the list.

A to Z Author Challenge {update}

March is just about over... How?

As the month is just about over, that means that it is time for an Author A to Z challenge update.

New additions are in a pink/salmon color, and the blue is existing.

I'm curious to see how many letters I can cross off my list!

A to Z Author Challenge

Yesterday I posted about the A to Z TITLE challenge, and today I am sharing that I am joining the A to Z AUTHOR challenge. Yes, I am treating them as two separate events.

With how much I read on a yearly basis, I'm thinking 2022 will have a few rounds happening. So, let's kick off the A to Z author challenge.

A to Z Title Challenge!

Happy January!

You may recall that back in October I participated in a month long a to z challenge that covered both title and author. So either could count for the letter. Well that's not happening this time around! I am treating them as two separate challenges.

With how much I read on a yearly basis, I'm thinking 2022 will have a few rounds happening. So, let's kick off the A to Z title challenge.

The Bookish A to Z book tag

It's been a while since my last book tag. I found the Bookish A to Z book tag through the FNM Book Blog (courtesy of Google), and it sounded interesting. After looking at the questions on Ann Marie Swaim's blog, I decided I would participate. No I wasn't tagged, but that doesn't stop me.  Plus these book tags allow you all to get to know me a bit better.

Author you've read the most books from:

This is a tough one. Id say it is a toss up between Aven Ellis, Natasha Madison, and Nora Roberts.

Best sequel

I went back and forth on this one. Ultimately A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas won out.

Honorable mentions to: Wundersmith by Jessica Townsend and Archenemies by Marissa Meyer

Currently Reading

The Wedding Game by Meghan Quinn. It was my Amazon First Reads selection for February.

Drink of choice while reading

Diet Coke

E-reader or Physical Book

Prior to Christmas 2019, I would have said physical. Now though my answer is 100% e-reader. I love my paperwhite.

Fictional character you probably would have dated in high school

Oh gosh I have no clue. (and do you know how long ago high school was for me? egads!)

Glad you gave this book a chance

Fragile Things by Samantha Lovelock

Hidden Gem

On The Edge by Dani Collins

Important moment in your reading life

I really think it goes back to my introduction to books. It was all because of my paternal Grandpa, and those amazing pop-up books he gifted me.

Just finished

I received an ARC of Only One Touch by Natasha Madison, and it was amazing. (review coming soon)

Kind of books I wont read

Horror or anything that is extremely gory.

Longest book you've read

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

Major book hangover because of

The Edge of Happiness by Kristin Turnage

Number of book cases you own

2 for me, and 3 half sized for my kids.

One book you've read multiple times

Everyones a aliebn when ur a aliebn too by Jomny Sun

It's amazing, and everyone should read it.

Preferred place to read

My couch in our downstairs living room

Quote that inspires you, or gives you all the feels, from a book you've read

Reading regret

I don't have any.

I mean are there books I wish I wouldn't have given my time to? Yes, I'm looking specifically at you Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks.

Series you started and need to finish

I'll just mention one since most of the series I'm currently reading are works in progress. So with that, I'll say the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend. I still need to read Hollowpox. (and I really want to buy the series vs borrowing it from my library.)

Three of your all time favorite books

Excuse me? Choose favorites? How very dare you! Okay fine, I'll toss out a few titles.

Unapologetic fangirl for

Hockey romance novels. Especially those by Natasha Madison and Samantha Whiskey.

Very excited for this release (more than all the others)

At this very moment, I would say Restless Things by Samantha Lovelock. I need to know what happens after that bombshell at the end of Fractured Things.

Worst bookish habit

Reading too fast, and not cherishing the book. Maybe?

X marks the spot: start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book

Vision in White by Nora Roberts. It's the first book in the Bride Quartet series.

Your latest book purchase

Oh just call me out why don't you. You know I've been buying books when I don't need to be.

I pre-ordered Only One Regret by Natasha Madison. It is the fifth book in the Only One series. Now I just need to wait until October. (unless I can get my hands on an ARC in September. Wishful thinking.) I'm so giddy that Natasha Madison decided to expand the series from 4 books to 8.

ZZZ-snatcher book (aka the last book that kept you up way too late)

Geez, what did I do to you? I can't help it if I read late at night, and then get so absorbed into the book that I say up until 1 or 2 in the morning.

There you have it, my bookish a to z.  Have you read any of the books I mentioned? How about the authors? Are you familiar with them?

Happy Reading,

2021 Reading Challenges

In 2020 I tried my hand at the PopSugar Reading Challenge. I can't lie, it was difficult for me. I did alright having completed 30 of the 50 prompts, but I obviously did not finish. Still, I consider the 30 prompts completed as a decent attempt. I will say that after looking at the prompts for 2021, I decided to skip it as it was too out there for me. The PopSugar 2021 challenge would have me stepping far outside my norm, and from experience I know that leads to a reading slump.

So what challenges am I participating in for 2021?

First up is the Alphabet Soup Reading Challenge hosted by DollyCas

Simply put, you are reading the alphabet. Just start with the first main word of the title. You can stick to your preferred genre, your preferred format, and call it good. So I'm in. I will be tracking my books via this link, or up in the header.

Next is the A to Z Challenge hosted by Bookstacks and Golden Moms

Similar to the Alphabet Soup challenge by DollyCas, but this time we are adding in some monthly mini challenges. I'm all about that, and if I can do the mini challenge I will. Consider joining me! You can find my tracker via this link, or up in the header.

Since those two are very similar, I am going to add to the difficulty a bit by not doubling up on my titles. I know. I know. But I feel that it is necessary. Let's see how I do!

My third, and final (as of now), challenge is the Creating and Co Reading Challenge

Paige has put together 24 prompts to get you through the year. One of the more difficult prompts, for me, will be the re-read. I rarely re-read, so we'll have to see on that. I should add that Paige often adds mini seasonal challenges as well, and I am going to do my best on those as well. My main focus will be the original 24. My tracker can be accessed up in the header, or through this link.

What reading challenges are you participating in for 2021?

Happy Reading,
